DEPARMENT OF ENGLISH

The Department of English was established in the year 1962, since then English has been offered as a second language. English is a compulsory subject for all the courses. It is offered for B.Sc., and BCA.  It is the language of opportunities, the window to the world.

  • The department has been at the forefront to engage and involve the outside world and bring it inside the classroom. It aims to help students to be empathetic to the world outside the classroom. It encourages the students to differ and deviate from the popular view. It helps students to develop into full rounded individuals who can be skilled and problem solvers in the Indian context. The classroom is a forum for interaction with faculty members encouraging students to question, analyze, criticize and contemplate on a topic.
  • The fundamental belief is that all students can learn and improve their performance.
  •    The faculty has the advantage of guiding a large section of the student community.
  •    The Department of English takes pride in encouraging its students to move beyond the syllabus. With this in mind, we arrange parallel pedagogic process of talks, lectures, seminars, film shows and interactive sessions with writers and critics.
  • The teachers hone communication skills, encourage the habit of reading books, develop a passion for language and literature, guide the young minds to appreciate human values and imbibe in them a sense of social and moral responsibilities.
  • Films are screened to create awareness on social issues, gender discrimination and other evils present in the society.

Cultural Programmes
All of us have some hidden artistic talent which just needs to be nurtured. Cultural committee provides the students a platform for a new learning that goes beyond the syllabus. Committee wishes to awaken, inspire and stimulate students. Cultural programmes are hosted for two weeks for all students. Various competitions are organized in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie. In order to create a space for students to express their talent, the college conducts various competitions every year like debate, lecture, essay writing competition, quiz, rangoli, mehandi, pick and speech, mono acting, advertising, collage, drawing, painting etc  Cultural committee serves to be a medium for discussions and debate. It encourages different forms of Indian music, folk songs, patriotic songs, light music and film songs. College upholds Indian tradition, culture and values by promoting Indian music, folklore, dance and by celebrating various Indian and national festivals. Every year we seek to create more such platforms to encourage the college community to participate in various cultural activities. Students are trained by experts to hone their skills and encourage them to participate in various competitions held in different Institutions and organizations.

Anti-ragging Cell

Anti-ragging cell includes the Management, Principal and Heads of the Departments. Ragging is not only discouraged but also dealt with sternness. Students being ragged can register their complaint to the cell without disclosing their names and the identity of informants of ragging incidents is fully protected. Effective action is taken by the Principal and the members of the cell.
Full awareness about anti-ragging act is fostered in students by counseling from experienced faculty so that the students have greater awareness about the act which states that students involved in ragging would not only be expelled but also ineligible for admission to any other institution for three years and can be jailed and fined.
No incident of Ragging has been reported in the college till date.
